Another truck spill on the R72

Perhaps it is the stop/go at the top of Albany Road or the driver wasn’t paying attention, maybe it was something else altogether, but a flatbed truck dropped what appeared to be plywood boards on the R72 last Thursday causing a second stop/go to be established.

With trucks spilling their contents on either Southwell Road on the West Bank or Albany Road on the East Bank over recent months the R72 with all the roadworks, trucks, JCBs and workers has become one of the most dangerous roads to travel on in the area.

Since the end of the builder’s holiday workers have been out in full force to complete the rebuild on R72 but this, in turn, can cause frustration and lead to drivers and pedestrians to take chances in crossing the road or overtaking other vehicles.

It is now almost two-and-a-half years since the project began and locals and visitors feel they have had to put up with the inconvenience of constant noise, dust and traffic control measure for long enough and are asking when will this project be finished.
