Steps are filthy, does anyone care?

Date:

Once again we are publishing photographs of the steps that lead from Stocks Avenue to Southwell Road (R72).

It seems that residents think this area is an extension of the Port Alfred dumpsite, the number of bags (household and garden refuse), empty bottles and general refuse, testify to that. But it is not and should not be used as a dumpsite. It is part of our town and needs to be cleaned up.

However, just cleaning up will not prevent those who are dumping their rubbish from doing so again and again as they have continued to do for a considerable time. Perhaps the municipality must take action and the area should be monitored and those responsible for using the steps to dump their rubbish should be warned to stop.
