Entries are now open for the annual ride on lawnmower grand prix at Bathurst Agricultural Show on April 6. The first racer has been doing speed trails.
In fact, if you haven’t already guessed who was “practising” it is Bathurst Agricultural Society president, Danny Wepener.
At last year’s attempt at the inaugural lawnmower event not too many people saw Wepener actually finish and rumour is that it wasn’t until the following Tuesday morning that he finally completed the course. Whether this was as a result of him kindly allowing others to pass him, including a rather obstinate snail that kept hastening him to get a move on, or the ice-cold castle he clutched in his right hand, perhaps we will never know.
The Bathurst Agricultural Show, the Eastern Cape’s premier agricultural show, from April 5 to 7, is going to be the best one yet, so make sure you get there. Read the Talk of the Town for more news on the show and all other events in and around Ndlambe.
