It was a brilliant time for surfers, bodyboarders, handball players, runners, swimmers and inflatable boats (rubber ducks) pilots who headed to Port Alfred for a feast of sporting activity at South Africa’s biggest water-sport event, the Royal St Andrews Hotel Amanzi Challenge which ran from April 19 to 28.
This year was the third time the RSA Hotel Amanzi Challenge has taken place and this prestigious international event saw sports professionals from around the world gathering in Port Alfred to compete for large cash prizes and being ranked among the top athletes in their chosen sport.
Once again the Royal St Andrews Hotel was the main headline sponsor of the challenge, having donated R1m in prize money per year until 2021, and is supported by other sponsors namely Gijima, Sunshine Coast Tourism, Sarah Baartman District Municipality, the Small Boat Harbour, Ndlambe Municipality, ECPTA, DSRAC and Talk of the Town.

It’s fun to see some of locals speaking to the camera and the video certainly shows off the coastline, indigenous forests, the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course and many other local features. There are interviews with world champions as well.
