Hennie de Bruin has been at the forefront of the Port Alfred floral art scene for many years and it is his enthusiasm and energy that have kept the Floral Art Group in Port Alfred successfully.

This Saturday, at the Don Powis Hall at Settlers Park, it was De Bruin’s turn to shine as he presented various artworks he has submitted to the Eastern Cape Floral Art Association ‘Floral Festival’, held each year in Jeffreys Bay.

De Bruin Showed his work as well as having the judges comments on each read. Although a gold medal winner, not just in South Africa but in countries around the world, he bravely showed that sometimes even experts have problems and that mistakes can happen to anyone.

From the judges’ comments, it seemed that not all of his pieces did as well as they might have had everything gone to plan. Between flowers not being delivered at the right time to De Bruin forgetting to take important items to the festival, his work didn’t always win the top prize.
