“…Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We Will Remember Them”
Veterans of the South African armed forces met at the Port Alfred Moths Shell Hole on Sunday to commemorate 101-years since the end of World War I and to remember all those who perished in the Great War, as well as World War II, and every subsequent war in the 20th century.
If we forget the past we are likely to repeat it. The message on the day was one of camaraderie and also sadness for those who gave their lives in order for us to enjoy the relative peace and freedoms we have today.
