Twenty-two people took part in the course and during the graduation they couldn’t contain their excitement as each one of them was called onto the stage and awarded for working hard and obtaining a certificate in the end.

Dr Juliet Chipumuro, who was training them on the course, congratulated all those who took part and thanked Stenden staff for helping. She also shared a few words of encouragement with the students.

“When this course started you were all happy to take part, and I saw that you were also happy with the service that we provided. I would like to thank Tracey Painting for offering her services to you guys, she was amazing. This programme was not easy for my team as we are busy preparing for 2020, and on the other hand we are busy with exams. I didn’t think we will pull this through but we did and you guys all made it,” Chipumuro said.

“We would also like to thank Sandy Birch for also taking part and teaching us about the Sunshine Coast Tourism Board and its importance, and she will also be helping me hand over the certificate to you guys.”

One of the graduates, Nosipho Nyendwana, said the certificate meant a lot to her and she was happy that she took part in the course.

“I am really excited that I was part of this course, now I know more than I knew about hospitality and it really taught us a lot about tourism as well. We are thankful to Stenden as well for allowing us to be a part of this,” Nyendwana said.

After the awarding of the certificates, people who took part were treated to lunch.
