The red berets marched against load-shedding and the “privatisation” of Eskom today (February 28), after the ANC government announced plans to sell off certain operations and open up the grid for IPPs).
The Johannesburg metro police department said its members, and the police, would monitor the march. The march follows the #SowetoShutdown protest, which saw residents protest against electricity disconnections.
The EFF’s official Eskom March started late, but there were already some major Johannesburg traffic issues to report on Friday morning. The large gathering of supporters – including truck drivers and other industrial workers – caused chaos on the roads. Pictures: ALON SKUY
