When the founder of Ndlambe Charity Organisation, Sfundo Nxasane, heard about an Alexandria family who lost everything in a fire, he set about collecting food and clothing for them. Sibuya Wilderness Experience responded and donated food. Ndlambe Charity Organisation donated clothes and additional food was received from private supporters. Sibuya Game Reserve also assisted by providing transport to Alexandria so that the donations could be delivered.
Last Tuesday, Nxasane led a delegation that included Sibuya Game Reserve field guides Reece and Monique Kotze, and visiting volunteers.
“We started our day at Jehovah Jireh Haven in Alexandria,” he said. “The name means ‘God will supply our every need according to His riches’. Indeed, Molly and her husband have been caring for vulnerable young people for the past 33 years.
”Molly did not want us to share any photographs, and we respected her request.”
Bam and her team take care of 89 children. Some are orphans, and others come from homes where they are not properly cared for, as many of their parents struggle with drug and alcohol abuse.
“After that, we visited Bhongweni Primary School, where we met with the Deputy Principal, Mr Sivuyile Msuthu. He informed us that the learners had already left for the day after writing exams, so we could not meet them. We did see one of the daughters from the affected family, but again, we were asked not to share any photos.”
Nxasane explained that it had been Msuthu who had told them about the family in Alexandria who had lost everything in a house fire.
“We immediately reached out to the private sector for assistance.”
Sibuya Wilderness Experience had responded and donated food. Ndlambe Charity Organisation donated clothes and additional food received from private supporters. Sibuya Game Reserve had also assisted by providing transport to Alexandria so that the donations could be delivered.
“Our purpose as an organization is to help the poor and vulnerable — and we are committed to changing the lives of our people in every way we can,” Nxasane said. “Anyone who would like to donate or support our work can contact me at 064 086 9078 or connect with us on Facebook at Ndlambe Charity Organization.”
