Carols and lights for Hospice

SUNSHINE Coast Hospice and Port Alfred Baptist Church partner once again this year to put on the Carols by Candlelight and the Tree of Lights event in aid of Hospice.

The Tree of Lights has grown into a national event, as hospices all over the country invite the communities they serve to buy lights in memory of loved ones or in celebration of life.

Every tree is unique and they are found in a variety of settings from major shopping centres to beautiful parks.

In Port Alfred, the Tree of Lights takes place in the grounds of the Port Alfred Hospital and is wellsupported by the local community and holidaymakers alike.

All are invited to bring their picnic baskets and join in with the singing of carols in anticipation of the switching on of the Tree of Lights.

This special event will be held on December 15 at 5.30pm and the tree remains lit for the duration of the festive season.

Lights can be bought for R20 and are available at Sunshine Coast Hospice,  Halyards Hotel & Spa and at the entrance to the Carols by Candlelight/Tree of Lights. All funds raised for the Tree of Lights will go towards providing Hospice’s
free service of home-based palliative care to patients in the community, thereby bringing hope, comfort and support to our patients and their families.
