EACH one of us is walking along life’s pathway.
The road we travel is affected by circumstances and the choices we make. The people we meet influence our lives, either positively or negatively.
Two men were on their way from Jerusalem to Emmaus shortly after the happenings in Jerusalem. What happenings? The crucifixion of a Man named Jesus of Nazareth and the proclamation of the fact that He had risen from the dead… for the tomb in which He had laid was now empty!
They had hoped that He was the Messiah and could not fully comprehend the events of the weekend. Then a third Man joined them on their journey. It was Jesus Himself, but they did not recognise Him. Only when He sat down to have a meal with them did they realize who He was… and their lives were transformed. This story can be read in Luke chapter 24.
Saul of Tarsus was on the road to Damascus determined to imprison and persecute the Christians there. Suddenly, a light from heaven flashed around him and he heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” The voice belonged to the very same person… Jesus of Nazareth!
Saul was blinded for three days until a man named Ananias laid his hands on him and his sight was restored.
So dramatically transforming was this encounter that Saul of Tarsus became Paul the Apostle to the gentiles. No longer a persecutor of the church but now a preacher of the gospel! You can read this story in Acts chapter 9.
No matter where your life’s pathway is leading you, it can be changed forever. An encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ will make the difference.
