Kowie Striders 27km runners face extreme winds in today’s race

And they are off! Runners hailing from clubs all over the Eastern Cape and further afield are currently facing extreme gale force winds while tackling this year’s 27km and 10 km race which started at the Bathurst Summerhill Farm earlier this morning.

The 27km run, and walk, starts from the big pineapple in Bathurst and is run along a portion of gravel road and then through pineapple fields. The race has some winding stretches to contend with, and a big downhill before the section in Port Alfred CBD, and then the final stretch to the Port Alfred Country Club.

With the strong wind from the front, its anyone’s guess who will be the race favourite this year.
