A KENTON man was tragically killed in a head-on collision on the Kenton-Grahamstown road on December 2 – an accident that only came to light after persistent questions to the police.
Boetie Holtzhausen died at the scene of the accident. The car he was driving was hit head-on by a game viewing vehicle from a local game reserve.
According to a tip-off received by Talk of the Town, suspected drunk driving was involved on the part of the driver of the game vehicle, and a woman was whisked away from the scene. TotT’s source said details of the accident appeared to be suppressed.
In response to TotT’s queries, SAPS spokeswoman Captain Mali Govender said: “A case of culpable homicide is under investigation.
“The female who was alleged to have been driving the game vehicle was transported from the scene by private vehicle to Grahamstown hospital with multiple injuries. The driver of the other vehicle died on the scene. The allegations against the driver are being investigated.”
Holtzhausen, originally from Alexandria, was a staunch tennis player at the Kenton tennis club and well respected and loved by many.
