Inspirational stories and journeys of epic proportions
A VETERAN of South African coastline walks over the last 12 years, local man Russell Kearney is finally launching a book about his experiences along the way.
Kearney has been motivated by various reasons undertaking these walks including a personal challenge against life-threatening cancer and the death of his first travelling companion, a dog named Gary. His walking companion is now a rescue-dog named Kei, also a survivor, whom Kearney walked around the perimeter of South Africa, a distance of 6 000km.
He has recently self-published a book on his journeys, Keep Walking, which he will be launching at the Halyards Hotel on Saturday March 10 at 10am.
Kearney began his adventure in 2006 on a walk from Namibia to Cape Town, a distance of 1 000km to raise awareness for the charity Age-in-Action.
More about Keaney’s incredible adventures in this week’s Talk of the Town.
