Coach confident despite losses to Brumbies
KOWIE United played a rugby match against the Brumbies of Grahamstown at Station Hill stadium on Saturday.
Two weeks ago when the two sides played their first friendly match, the Brumbies won 88-7, a crushing defeat for Kowie United.
When they met again last Saturday, Kowie United came back stronger and although they still lost, it was closer at 36-12.
Kurt Wessels and Claude Marais both scored tries and Mason Brooks made a conversion for Kowie United.
“But we are getting ready for the season which starts on April 7,” said coach Abie Hendriks. “It was just a friendly match, not a league match, and we are building fitness.”
See Talk of the Town for further details.
The next match will take place at Station Hill stadium on Saturday March 24.
“The first reserves will take to the field at 2.10pm and the first team at 3.30pm,” said Hendriks.
