Round Table feeds university rowers

Date:

This weekend it’s the University Boat Races on the Kowie River, one of the town’s most prestigious events but this year it was not as broadly advertised as it has in previous years.

However, sticking to tradition, following a hard day of practice, Port Alfred’s Round Table prepared supper for the more than 300 rowers at the Port Alfred High School hall on Thursday evening, the eve of the races which begin today.

Having done this for over 20 years, the Tablers have a lot of experience and everything went off smoothly as the rowers from universities all around the country had their last night of socialising before the races begin.

More on the races in next week’s Talk of the Town.
