Events kicked off at 8am and finished at 1pm.

The school divided the pupils into two houses, the eagles and the lions, competing against each other in running, javelin and discus. Grade 4 to Grade 12 pupils participated.

Lisakhanya Gula was very excited for the lions, because they were dominating and winning most of their races as the day progressed.

“I am really happy that I am part of the winning team. My team is currently leading on the scoreboard but I must admit running the 800m was really hard for me, I felt a bit dizzy after the second round but I had to finish my race,” Gula said.

At around 11am lions were the leading team by 288 points and the eagles were on 214 points, and by the end of athletics day the scoreboard was still showing lions as the winning team in all the sports activities by 749 points.

There were victors and victrix (top scorers) for both seniors and juniors. Gavin Mgxotheni was the victor for the seniors and Hannah Naude was the victrix, then victor for the juniors was Chulumanco Kulati, and victrix was Beate Rowe.

Lions team member Zina Mampana was so excited for their win as they were the dominating house throughout the day.

“It’s been an amazing day for the lions team, they did very well and their participation in all the sporting activities was excellent. They did everything they can to stay on top of their game – they deserve the win,” Mampana said.
