Port Alfred CBD was rocked on Wednesday morning when armed robbers entered the Vodacom shop in Anchorage Mall and, according to unofficial reports, stole cell phones, laptops and other items of equipment.

SAPS, security and ambulances were quick to respond but did not catch the robbers at the premises, but local LPR (licence plate recognition) CCTV cameras were apparently being used to trace the perpetrators’ vehicle as they headed away from the crime scene.

At the time of publishing, SAPS had not issued a statement.
