New cattery to open at Port Alfred SPCA, and you are invited

LUCKY CATS: The new cattery at the Port Alfred SPCA will provide a safe play area for the cats boarded there to explore and enjoy

Port Alfred & Ndlambe District SPCA’s invite you to take a step inside the new and improved cattery.

Walking through the new entrance gate visitors will notice the extension to the original building, which is a main play area for the felines to roam. This play area is a fully enclosed facility with windows and doors, allowing sunshine to flood the area during the day. Artificial grass, kindly provided by Top Carpets, covers the floor. A tree decorated with cat toys stands tall in the corner –  the perfect scratching post for the feline friends. Each of the fourteen kennels have been extended slightly and the cats explore and exercise in the play area every day.

“The upgrade to our cattery was made possible with the incredible support and dedicated craftsmanship of Bruce Lloyd Contractors, who completed the roofing and building, DP Engineering who installed the gates, KJ Bricks and Makhana Bricks who donated all the bricks free of charge. Buco and Kowie Hardware kindly gave us a discount on building materials.

“The renovations to the new cattery have been keeping us busy in the past eight to 10 weeks,” said SPCA’s Kayla Struwig.

“We are thrilled with the result and would like to share this excitement with you. Please join us at our Grand Opening of the new cattery on Sunday, December 1 between 11am and 1pm. Kids are welcome too so please bring them along to enjoy the day.  Refreshments will be provided.”
