On Friday, August 16 Edge Financial Group and Pam Golding Port Alfred hosted a Women’s Day high tea at the Royal Alfred Marina Clubhouse. Guest speaker Dr Taryn Gaunt spoke about the importance of holistic wellness and mental health as woman. She shared with the ladies that 1 in 7 young women (16-24) have PTSD from either abuse, at home, at work especially in the work place, she said Women are more likely to experience toxic work environments solely because they are women. Men and even some women who are struggling with their own mental health are more likely to bully young women.
Dr Gaunt shared some good ways to help fight off that feeling of loneliness and uselessness she said, “Find community and go have some fun with them. Laugh! Laughter lowers adrenaline levels and over time cortisol levels also drop. It stimulates the release of endorphins. And it is an emotional bonder.”
Rosehill SuperSpar was the event’s main sponsor. The Marina provided the venue. Dynamic Therapy and Meridian Spa sponsored some of the lucky draw prizes.
Organiser Alexa Gutsche said, “The high tea was a huge success based on the feedback I and Lauren [Meyer, from Pam Golding Properties] have received.”
