THE next Talk of the Town/MyPond Hotel Quiz to benefit the Port Alfred Soup Kitchen (PASK) will be on Thursday February 9.
The fundraiser for PASK, the third by TotT in the past six months, has been a boon as the soup kitchen is in dire straits.
“After 18 years in operation we thought we might have to close our doors towards the end of last year, but the generosity of our sponsors and supporters has enabled us to continue for another few months,” said PASK fundraiser Ivy Gulliford.
“We are awaiting Lotto’s decision as to whether we shall receive more funding and are most concerned that we will not be able to continue supporting the thousands of men, women and children in our community who are living way below the bread line.”
One way the public can help is by supporting the Talk of the Town/MyPond Hotel quiz in conjunction with Stenden South Africa, held at MyPond Hotel, at 6.30 for 7pm.
The fun-filled event for teams of four at R100 per person, has categories of music, movies, famous faces, general knowledge and geography among others – something for everyone. For those who have wracked their brains in the past, take heart – it will be easier.
There are great prizes for the top three spots as well as lucky draws. Prizes include MyPond Hotel meal vouchers valued at R1 200 sponsored by Stenden South Africa, four Stenden hoodies and a river cruise for four from the Halyards Hotel.
There are also meal vouchers from Penny Farthing, Decadent and Cafe Reset, a meal voucher/movie combo from Spur, gift vouchers from Leach Pharmacy and a gift voucher from d’vine deli.
Finger snacks have been sponsored by Stenden and there is a cash bar. To book contact Ivy or Debra on 084-585-3442 or 083-260-0334.
