EC: Port Alfred Cluster: Alexandria
Three constables from Alexandria SAPS held a vehicle check point this morning after receiving information of a vehicle with a possible firearm. They stopped a vehicle with a 49 year old male driver, they questioned him whether he has any firearms to declare, and he replied in the negative.
During a search of the vehicl
e, a 9mm firearm, seven rounds with one magazine was found under the drivers’ seat.
There were no documentation relating to the firearm, the serial number on the firearm has also been tampered with and not visible.
The man was arrested and detained on a charge relating to the Firearms Control Act. He will appear in the Alexandria Magistrates Court shortly . Enquiries Captain Mali Govender 0827797123.
