ACCLAIMED Durban musician Rowan Stuart will be performing in Grahamstown on Thursday (August 24) as part of his solo national tour in August and September.
Stuart has created an inimitable brand of “folk-meets-pop” music, seamlessly crossing over from acoustic singer-songwriter to radio charting pop artist, while retaining his signature depth of content. Recalling Sting’s imaginative storytelling, Death Cab For Cutie’s sense of space and beauty, and John Mayer’s tight grooves, Stuart uses his notable prowess on the guitar as the foundation for his creativity.
Stuart’s career came into full swing in 2014 with the release of his acoustic album Hidden Doors. He has since toured South Africa, and opened for some of the country’s biggest acts, including The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Matthew Mole and many others.
A maestro guitarist, Stuart is a brand ambassador for Cort Guitars. His single, Silver Balloon, released late last year, was play-listed on major radio stations across South Africa, including 5FM, East Coast Radio, Algoa FM, KFM, 947 and more.
Says Stuart: “I’m a natural introvert, and I live mostly in my head. Sometimes my inner world filters through into the songs I write. The stage is my favourite place to share this inner universe with others – where words and music turn my thoughts into reality for a moment.”
The Innerworld Tour performances will include brand new unreleased material, acoustic interpretations of songs from Stuart’s five albums, and reimagined cover-versions, as well as his hit single, Silver Balloon.
Stuart will perform at the SSS Top Bar (Slipstream) at 19b New Street in Grahamstown, starting at 9pm. Doors open at 7pm. The entry fee is R30.
On his tour Stuart will also perform in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape, Northern Cape, Free State and Gauteng.
