PORT ELIZABETHRenika Rungan (42), the director of a Port Elizabeth motor collision and repair company appeared before the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crime court on Thursday for fraud. This occurred after she was summoned to appear in court as result on an investigation by the Serious Commercial Crime unit of the Hawks into an alleged fraud case against Former Nelson Mandela Bay Municipal spokesman Roland Williams (46).

It is alleged that her company submitted a false claim to a Port Elizabeth insurance company for a vehicle which was apparently never involved in a car accident. She was summoned to appear in court in her capacity as the company director.

The vehicle in question allegedly belongs to Williams and his case is currently before the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crime court.

Williams is accused of allegedly submitting a fraudulent car insurance claim to the same Port Elizabeth insurance company.

He claimed he was allegedly involved in a car accident in Motherwell and after submitting claims the insurance company paid out a substantial amount of money.

The alleged crime was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime which led to Williams’ arrest on July 6 2017.

Rungan and Williams’ next court appearance will be on September 21 2017 for merit consultation and copies of the docket.
