ST ANDREW’S College took part in the Kearsney Basketball Tournament from Friday September 29 to Monday October 2.
The school reported that the basketball festival was an amazing experience coupled with fatigue, sweat and tears for the coaches and players.
“It was a learning process to help boys understand themselves as a team, and what to expect in the season ahead. Though the results showed that we lost more than we won, they do not show how much we gained through the experience,” St Andrew’s said in its report.
Eighteen schools’ teams participated at the tournament. St Andrew’s was placed 12th overall, but is certain their results will doubt improve in future.
The summary of results are as follows:
Treverton College Won 44-29
St John’s College Lost 31-53
Highway Invitation Lost 32-46
Kearsney College Lost 24-64
Bishop Bavin School Won 62-44
St Nicholas College Lost 29-35
Hilton College Lost 41-42
Following the Kearsney Basketball Festival, St Andrew’s hosted the inaugural U14 Basketball Festival from Thursday October 5 to Saturday October 7.
Fifteen schools’ teams were involved. The festival created opportunities for the teams from different regions to play teams they normally don’t play against in a regular season.
“The festival was unique in the sense that it also allowed the lower teams (B, C and D) an equal opportunity to participate in a festival set up,” St Andrew’s said in its report.
Good Shepherd team, which took part at the festival, had been preparing their team for the past four weeks. They team played six games, winning two, drawing one and losing three.
