
LAST week the St Andrew’s College basketball teams played in various fixtures and had a mixed bag of results.

SAC U14C beat Kuyasa Juniors 12 – 0
SAC U14B beat Grey U14B 38 – 2
SAC U14A beat Grey U14A 44 – 8
SAC U16B beat Grey U16A 18 – 3
SAC 1st beat Grey 1st 41 – 26
Friday February 23
SAC 5th narrowly lost to Kingswood U16A 14 – 17
SAC 4th went down to Kingswood 2nd 3 -21
Saturday February 24
SAC U14A beat Nombulelo U16 21 – 14
SAC U16B beat Kuyasa 2nd 27 – 9
SAC 2nd lost to Kuyasa 1st 20 -21
SAC 1st won against Nombulelo 1st 31 – 27
Participating at the prestigious St Stithian’s College Festival last weekend, the St Andrew’s College U16A team – with the majority of players coming from the U15 age group – lost all their matches against the stronger Windhoek International School, Pretoria Boys, Kearsney College, American International School of Johannesburg, St David’s Marist and International School of South Africa. They only lost by narrow margins of less than 5 points in all matches.
The host, St Stithian’s College, were the tournament winners, beating Michaelhouse in the final.
The other schools’ coaches and tournament organisers voted Giniello Jansen of St Andrew’s as the tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP).
