RESIDENTS in parts of Port Alfred were frustrated by water outages last week and again over the weekend and on Monday.
TotT received calls asking if we knew the cause of their taps running dry. Among the areas affected were the Stewart Road area on the West Bank as well as the East Bank.
We asked municipal spokesman Cecil Mbolekwa for answers.
He replied today (Wednesday). “Indeed there were water outrages in the areas mentioned. We were quick to respond,” he said.
“We have discovered that there was an airlock in our pipelines which was affected by cleaning that took place in our balancing dam – the grass got stuck in our water strainers. While we were busy cleaning the strainers the water supply was affected in certain areas, particular the high lying areas.”
