The lighting of the Hospice Tree of Lights

There was a big turnout of locals and holidaymakers for the annual Hospice Tree of Lights and Carols by Candlelight at the Port Alfred Hospital grounds this evening. The event, always a popular one on the festive season calendar, is a time to remember a loved one lost to cancer or other illness by lighting a candle, with donations going to the community work of Sunshine Coast Hospice. The Port Alfred Baptist Church worship band led the carol service and pastor Josh de Wit delivered a message focusing people’s thoughts on the birth of Jesus the Messiah.

  1. Whist I support Hospice and the great work they do I found this year’ Carol service very disappointing. 5 or 6 actual carols sung and a lot of readings in between. Then the band took over. If this was a Carol service then let it be one.why were candles handed out when we had bright lights. All in all very disappointing
