Waging war against plastic waste in Boknes

Taking up the theme, Plastic Our Enemy, the Alexandria Women’s Agricultural Association (WAA) launched a project on Thursday August 15 to keep Boknes Beach clean. The WAA unveiled a large galvanised steel fish that has specifically been made to inspire and encourage everyone to collect and dispose of plastic waste on the beach. The fish is symbolic of the effect of plastic waste on sea life and also serves as a receptacle for the plastic people pick up on the beach. Boknes is home to several conservation-minded residents who take it on themselves to pick up as much waste as they can on their daily beach walks.
