Four people were killed while 15 were seriously injured when a minibus taxi and a sedan collided on the N2 in East London on Monday morning.
Department of transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated. He said both drivers were among the survivors.
“The department calls upon motorists in the province to be extra cautious as roads are wet and slippery all across the province due to persistent and steady rains.”
Various emergency services were at the scene of the fatal car accident near the Abbotsford Christian Centre.
Traffic has been backed up and motorists have been encouraged to use alternative routes. The cause of the accident is not known.
This is a developing story.
