WITH one of the best scenic venues in town, overlooking the Kowie River and marina, Tash’s Craft Bar is a place where you can find something different every time you pop in.
Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and supper, Tash’s regular menu consists of pizza, burgers, meat boards, seafood and pork chops, just to mention a few.
Their wood-fired (homemade base) pizzas are a hit. “With the thin base and delicious toppings, you can’t beat it, in our opinion, but come try them to make your own opinion,” said owner Tasha Kenny.
Tash’s has set up a weekly schedule, so customers can become aware of what is weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly.
Happy Hour is one hour of pure joy with drinks half-price. Their unique craft drinks on tap and cocktails are all 50% off, every day between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
“One of the reasons for Happy Hour is for people to try all different things without having to pay full price for them,” said Kenny.
Tash’s also hosts live shows, with the aim to do this monthly, with different artists each time.
Tash’s homemade day on a Tuesday is based on home cooking – for example slow-cooked oxtail which is served on a bed of rice, with carrot cake as dessert.
“On Wednesdays we take on the mammoth task of making you the best ribs at the best price – 1kg for R149 and 500g for R99. We have also thrown in a quarter chicken for those who aren’t as peckish, served with onion rings and salad or chips and onion rings for R59,” Kenny said.
Thursdays are the two for R99 burger special, where you can choose between Tash’s homemade 200g beef patty or their crumbed or grilled chicken burger served with chips. From 8pm on Thursday evening Tash’s has karaoke, where they give a R350 cash prize to first place and R150 to second place for the evening.
“Friday is our “Sea-you-on-Friday” Seafood day! We have seafood at very special prices, for example our mussel pot, calamari, seafood board or our seafood pizza, all at a reduced price for the whole day.”
Saturdays are kept aside for a monthly show (Lionel Hunt will perform on May 12), or booked functions, However if Tash’s is not booked for a Saturday, they run their supporters board which is a board for the books – sliders, jalapeno poppers, samoosas, crumbed mushrooms, biltong wheels and chipolatas for the minimal price of R155. They also do their quarter chicken for R59 in peri-peri or lemon and herb.
Sunday is a real family day, with Tash’s three for two pizza special. Pick three kinds of pizza of the same size and get the cheapest one free. They also have 30% off all milkshakes the whole day and finish off the afternoon with a two for one cocktail special from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
“Our student, pensioner and loyalty cards have been set up so every day is pensioners, student or local day!” said Kenny. “So come sign up for yours now, and make every day yours!” Kenny said.
Tash’s is a non-smoking establishment inside. Smoking is permitted on the terrace overlooking the marina and river. They pride themselves on their clean toilets and general area. They have a kiddies’ room which has a TV and some toys – a dedicated space for the little ones. They also have kids’ options on their menu.
For those who want a bit more relaxation, Tash’s couch areas both inside and outside offer comfort to enjoy your sundowner or to read the newspaper.
“We are really just trying to bring something a little different to our town for locals and travellers to enjoy!” said Kenny.
The establishment boasts ample parking.
