FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: EFF members, furious that the municipality had demolished an old graveyard without discussions with the community, took out their frustration with the Ndlambe municipality and closed Campbell Street by setting fire to tyres and rubbish Picture: ROB KNOWLES
A thick pall of smoke enveloped the top-end of Campbell Street at noon on Monday when EFF members, angry with the municipality because they had demolished the Esleyini graveyard in Nemato, burned rubbish bins and set fire to tyres outside the municipal offices.
The demolition of the graves was the spark that ignited the fire of protest and the EFF decided to draw attention to their plight by causing havoc in the CBD.
