Evergreen and SAPS explain social crime to a young audience

On Tuesday morning at the Port Alfred High School hall, the SAPS and the Evergreen Theatre Company put on a series of sketches to highlight the dangers children are often subjected to with respect to abduction, date rape and other social crimes.

Pupils from Grade R to Grade 8 watched the scenarios, punctuated with short descriptions of what was happening in the sketches, and Ann Green, the founder of Evergreen, asked the children questions.

From the rapt attention the pupils seemed to be paying to the sketches, the message was received loud and clear: children must not speak with, engage with, walk off with or accept drinks or sweets from strangers.
