Media briefing on the state of Port Alfred water

Ndlambe Municipality held a media briefing on Thursday about the state of water in Port Alfred. Infrastructural development director Noluthando Vithi-Masiza spoke about water quality, particularly the discoloration – which she said was due to the low level of the Sarel Hayward Dam and the pumps sucking mud – and water shortages as a result of drought and the water table dropping due to borehole drilling in the Makana area. The municipality encourages residents to use water sparingly. The Sarel Hayward dam is currently at 40%.
