Soil quality was the purpose of the discussion at the Overberg Agri Conference Centre in Alexandria on Tuesday lunchtime, and Peter King of Yara Agriculture and Jean-Alex Swart of Agricol gave presentations on soil quality, and how that affects plant growth.
Farmers seemed most interested in how they could improve soil quality on their farms to assist in crop improvement, particularly in the essentially sandy earth found along the coast.
