A FUNDRAISING auction for the Bathurst Agricultural Museum on February 23 has an array of items to attract keen bidders, including weekend getaways, beach rides, original artwork, meat hampers and wine hampers.
Called the Geoff Palmer Honorary Auction, all proceeds will go towards completing building projects at the museum, which is home to priceless relics of agricultural equipment going back more than a century, including tractors and engines that are kept in working order by a group of dedicated volunteers.
Among the items to tickle bidders’ fancy are two nights for two adults and two children (meals included) at Mpekweni; a week at Marloth Park, Mpumalanga, self-catering (sleeps eight); a five-day stay in an eight-sleeper chalet at the Hole in the Wall, two nights for two adults self-catering at Rugged Rocks, Port Alfred; two night weekend at The Milking Parlour on a pineapple farm; two nights for two people, includes all meals, game drives, and other activities at Kariega Game Reserve; two nights for six people sharing, self-catering and a nature drive at Huntshoek Lodge; two nights for two people, two full English breakfast, and one two-course dinner at the 5 Star Hacklewood Hill Country House, Port Elizabeth; rides for two people, Beachcombers Horse Trails; rides for two people, 3 Sisters Horse Trails; a deep sea day fishing trip and a boat trip up Kowie River to Mansfield for eight people.
The event will be held at the Ploughman and Pike’s Post at the museum is at 6pm for 7pm.
Hobson and Co will conduct the auction and buyers need to register prior to the auction to get their buyer’s number. Hobson and Co will be at Pike’s Post from 5pm on the day for registration. Should anyone want to make a telephonic bid, you will need to have a friend to register and bid on your behalf.
There is a cash bar available and food will be on sale after the auction, with music entertainment by DJ Des.
