THE 1st Port Alfred Cubs, Scouts and Girl Guides began on February 16 1988, and this month marks the 40th anniversary of the movement in Port Alfred.
A special ceremony was organised at the St Paul’s Anglican Church to celebrate both of these occasions. The boys and girls stood, along with a surprising number of the congregation that had also been Cubs, Scouts or Guides in the past, and took the promise, “to do their duty to God and their country, and to obey the Scout law”.
