This means that some facilities may open after June 1. The DLTCs and VTSs will not resume operations simultaneously but on a staggered and gradual basis, with the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) to conduct their state of readiness assessment.
Mbalula said a 30-day leeway is provided for those whose learner’s licences, driving licences and/or licence disks have expired.
“However, since the issue of expired licences is linked to the resumption of services at DLTCs and VTSs, the start date of the 30-day grace period has not yet been announced,” he said.
A further direction will be given to announce when the grace period will commence.
All learner’s licences, driving licences and licence disks that expired 21 days before the lockdown or during the lockdown are deemed to be valid until the end of the 30-day grace period.
This is a joke my license has already expired and if the traffic department do not open on the 1st of June i will be over the 30 day leeway. NOW WHAT????
Relax, even if they open 01 July, that day will be the start of the 30 day grace period. Whenever they will open, grace will last for more 30 days.
MINE EXPIRED 30/03/2020
LOCKDOWN STARTED 26/03/2020
30 DAYS
I AM CONFUSED .
I THINK IT MEANS 30 DAYS AFTER LOCKDOWN IS OVER OR 30 DAYS AFTER LICENCING DEPARTMENTS WILL OPEN.🤔
Relax, its still valid. It says 21 days before lockdown and the grace period will extend to 30 days after DLTCs open. e.g 01 June + 30 days.
It seems this government does not know what they doing
Start of the 30 day grace period has not yet been announced. I assume the grace period will start once the offices are open and able to process your application

which simply means you still have 30 days to (renew) your licenseing once they have announced the start date of the grace period, which has not been allocated as yet. 😎
We surely cannot blame the government, no one invited this covid-19. One day things will be back to operating normally.
Today it’s a the 01th of June and they say they are not operating
