Barely two days after the reopening of schools, an East London primary school has been closed after a teacher tested positive for Covid-19.

The closure of Duncan Village’s Luzija Primary School has left many parents shocked.

A number of schools closed their doors after teachers and pupils tested positive in various parts of the country this week.

The provincial education department confirmed to DispatchLIVE on Wednesday that Lujiza has closed its doors.

“Yes, it’s been confirmed that a teacher tested positive at the school. The school has been closed for deep cleaning and sanitation. It will be open in due course,” said provincial education department spokesperson Loyiso Pulumani.

This is a developing story.
