The Stance by the River event took place on the banks of the Kowie on Saturday September 23, despite the wet weather. Stance 4 Charity founder, Kurt Solomon describes the organisation as a passion project where enthusiasts share their passion of “pimping” their cars with dropped suspensions and expensive rims, showing off their mechanical, graphic and engineering talents. When the non-profit organisation (NPO) hosts their annual events, it brings together friends and strangers creating lifetime friendships and sometimes friends even become family as well, he said.
This year was no different and despite the wet weather, the event went on and was well attended.
“After a long discussion with the organising team we came to the decision not to cancel the event,” Bradley Christian one of the Stance4Charity organisers said. “It would have been selfish to cancel the event knowing participants and spectators had booked accommodation beforehand.
“A lot of different feedback was shared with us on social media both good and bad, unfortunately there isn’t much we could do about the weather this past weekend, but I am very glad people made their way to the event despite the conditions,” Christian said.
“We have a lot of people who are already asking when the next event will be in Port Alfred, two months from now we will have the dates, it’s only going to get bigger from here, it has already gotten a lot of attention as is,” Christian said.
Stance4Charity donated the proceeds from last year’s event to two local schools. Nomzamo Secondary School and Port Alfred Junior Secondary School both received toiletries and sanitary pads.
“As Stance4Charity grows we are aiming to help out more schools,” Christian said. “We hope that next year the weather will be good and that it will be well attended.”
