Bowling teams from across the region participated in a successful Edge Finance-sponsored Harry Owsley Mixed Bowling Classic held at PA Bowling & Croquet Club this past weekend.
Grumpy Enslin, organiser-in-chief, had put weeks of hard work behind him to see it capped by a successful hosting of the tournament which had 104 take to the greens over two days.
Bowlers from afar afield as the Northern Cape, Gqeberha, East London, and Makhanda took part in the Classic.
Team effort in an event of such nature is crucial and kitchen volunteers, bar staff, the tabs room team and green-keeper, Jaco van Rensburg, and his staff helped ensure to make it the success it was.
On Saturday, three games of 15 ends were played followed by a further two on Sunday. Following the three games on Saturday, 14 teams qualified to play in the open event with 12 teams competing in the plate section.
In the open section, the Kowie team skipped by Jackie Kriel ended second, with Andrew Hynch’s team securing first place. The Kenton side skipped by Willie Basson was placed fourth.
