Stafford, who has just earned his Eastern Province colours, will be competing in both the Euro-tramp and double mini-tramp competition for his age group. Pick n Pay, Heritage Mall general manager, Russell Skelton, said the store decided to sponsor Stafford to promote youngsters and sport in general.

“Stafford trains at the Sunshine Coast Gymnastics Club (SCGC), but also at Anderson’s in Port Elizabeth, as they compete where SCGC do not,” said his father, Kelly Avis.

The results of Stafford’s bid for gold will only be released after Talk of the Town goes to print, so we will keep you updated on his progress on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
