EC: Alice Cluster 2017-10-07
Efforts to fight the proliferation of illegal firearms in the Alice Cluster have resulted in the recovery of a high calibre rifle as well as several rounds of ammunition.
4 male suspects aged between 20 and 30 years were arrested in the early hours of this morning at a vehicle checkpoint on the R67 near Balfour.
During routine check, a high calibre rifle and ammunition was seized.
The suspects face charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition. The suspects will appear in the Alice magistrates court later in the week.
The station management thanked the members for their efforts and vigilance in ensuring that they filter through those who continue to break the law and bring them to book.
